A two handled lidded sucrier or sugar bowl, of compressed rectangular form with a convex shaped rim and conforming lid. Decorated in the Imari pattern with walled gardens hiding lush foliage behind and roundels of birds and gilt whorls; the whole with an iron red, cobalt and gilt palette. Hand-painted mark 'Spode 1495' in red to base.
